Galaxy JHello JeMaRc,
We are sorry to hear about your experience with your beloved Samsung Galaxy phone having issues with Wi-Fi that automatically turn-off or malfunctioned. I feel and understand why you are worried for a device that you've take care so much. If my device is facing similar experience, I will be bothered too.
If you're having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi on your Galaxy device, this can be caused by network issues. This guide will help you through the basic steps to get your wireless connection fixed. There are a number of things you can try, such as performing a soft reset, adjusting your settings, and forgetting the network.
Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software are updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.
Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.
Step 2. Tap on Download and install.
Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Remove any third-party cases or accessories. Move the device to an area that doesn't have any sources of interference like microwaves. It can even help if you change your hand position, or which hand is holding the device.
Method 1: Perform a soft reset.
Step 1. Swipe down from the top of your phone’s screen to open the Quick panel.
Step 2. Tap the Power icon, and then tap Restart.
Step 3. If the phone restarts normally, check if the same problem still occurs.
Method 2. Check your Wi-Fi Network.
Having a weak signal may cause connectivity issues. If you are receiving a weak signal, try moving closer to the Wi-Fi source and connect again.
Open Settings, tap Connections, and then tap Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is on, your mobile device will list the Wi-Fi networks in range. Tap the switch to turn Wi-Fi on if necessary.
- If your Wi-Fi network appears, select your network. If the network is secured, enter the credentials, and then tap Connect.
- If your Wi-Fi network does not show, or no networks appear at all, verify the settings on your router.
- Reset your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, remove the power cable for 30 seconds.
- Make sure the router is transmitting the network SSID, or manually add a network if it does not broadcast your network SSID.
- Make sure there is no interference between the router and your mobile device. Concrete walls, fridges and microwaves can all interrupt the Wi-Fi signal.
Method 3. Disconnect and then reconnect from the network.
If you have previously managed to connect to the Wi-Fi network you are having trouble joining, it may help to forget the network and reconnect.
If this happens, you should disconnect and then reconnect from the network. Navigate to Settings, and then tap Connections. Tap Wi-Fi, and then touch and hold your desired network until a popup appears. Tap Forget network and then try reconnecting to the network.
If you want your device to automatically connect to this Wi-Fi network in the future, make sure that the switch next to Auto-reconnect is switched on.
Method 4. Try connecting with another device.
If you are connecting to a home Wi-Fi network, check if the other devices you own can connect. If you are unable to connect with any of your devices, the issue is likely with your Wi-Fi.
If you are able to connect using another device, check for and install any available software updates then try connecting again.
Method 5. Start your phone in Safe mode.
Safe mode can be used as a diagnostic tool that lets you run your device at the basic interface without any third-party apps. This helps to determine if the issue you are facing is due to an installed app.
Step 1. Open Quick settings. Tap the Power icon at the top of the screen.
Step 2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode icon is displayed.
Step 3. Tap Safe mode. If you've entered Safe mode successfully, you will see Safe mode displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Method 6. Reset the network settings.
In case you still face connectivity problems, please try the following to reset the network settings on your device.
Step 1. Launch the Settings app.
Step 2. Tap the General management menu.
Step 3. Tap Reset menu.
Step 4. Tap Reset network settings menu.
Step 5. Tap the Reset settings button.
Note: When you reset the network settings of your device, you may lose registered information when performing the reset.
