Starting August 31 2024:

Existing apps must target Android 13 (API level 33) or higher to remain available to new users on devices running Android OS higher than your app’s target API level. Apps that target Android 12 (API level 31) or lower ( Android 10 or lower for Wear OS and Android 11 or lower for TV OS), will only be available on devices running Android OS that are the same or lower than your apps’ target API level.

Starting August 31, 2024, Google Play Store's API level requirement will be updated, which will have the following implications for Android 7.0 Nougat and Android Lollipop users: • Existing apps must target at least Android 13 (API level 33) to remain available to new users on devices running Android OS higher than the app’s target API level1. • Apps targeting Android 12 (API level 31) or lower will only be available on devices running Android OS that are the same or lower than the app's target API level1. For users of Android 7.0 Nougat (which corresponds to API level 24) and Android Lollipop (API levels 21-22), this means: • They may not be able to access or install new apps or updates that target API levels higher than their device's supported API level. • They can continue to use existing apps that target their device's API level or lower, but these apps may not receive future updates. • Their devices may become more vulnerable to security risks over time, as they will not receive updates that include the latest security patches. It's important for users of older Android versions to consider upgrading to a newer device that supports the latest Android versions and API levels to ensure they can continue to use the full range of apps and services offered by Google Play, as well as to maintain device security and functionality.
