Hello, I've recently bought a secondhand Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G on eBay. Unfortunatelly, the phone is locked to AT&T network. I contacted AT&T and I was told the NCK (Network Unlock Code) which is a 16digit number. Well, because I am a clamsy guy I managed to enter the code several times wrong due to number misclicks and now the phone asks me for MCK (Master Unlock Code) - the code asked when multiple incorrect network unlock codes are entered. Great. I contacted AT&T again and I was told that they do not have MCK code on record and that this code can be obtained only from Samsung. So, I am here.

May I get some advice what are the requirements for obtaining MCK code, which form should I fill in order to request it or who to contact in order to get it? As far as I searched Samsung website and various other resources so far I did not find any suitable information on this matter.

Thanks in advance.

Resolved!

Hello!

I'm sorry for writing like this, but I was hoping you could help me. I have the exact same problem, and I can't solve it on my own. I am from Europe and I bought the phone from someone who is a USA citizen. I couldn't find any other options for solving this problem, except for your comment. I'm afraid I don't really understand in what way do you fill a complaint, and could I even fill one with living in a foreign country.

I have also contacted some other people from my country who might be able to help me, if something like this doesn't work.

Thank you!

So,

Both Samsung and AT&T  are putting me through Absolute HELL  (no joke 52 hours of my time between the both of them) tryin to unlock my S20+  which I provided proof that I bought directly from Samsung.com Pre-Order with the AT&T image on the phone  (never financed from AT&T).

I originally was gonna order the unlocked version, but I thought it might be more convenient to have the AT&T sim come with the phone...  BIG F'ING MISTAKE!!

Dealing with Both Samsung & AT&T is like dealing with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb!!! They BOTH point fingers of blame at each other for this issue that MANY people are livid over, and shouldn't be this difficult to resolve.  I want to go Postal at this point... truly!!!

Working to resolve getting my phone unlocked by AT&T has been like being Bill Murray in the movie Ground Hog Day.  I have to start from scratch each and every time I call AT&T tech support.

You can never get in touch with the last support person who was handling the issue, and they say they can't email you, or give you way to call that specific representative back who was working to find a solution.

REALLY FRUSTRATING STARTING OVER FROM SCRATCH EVERY TIME!!!!  THEY DON'T LOOK AT THE PREVIOUS NOTES ATTACHED TO THAT SUPPORT TICKET!!!

Their system , just like Samsung's support is set up to get you frustrated enough to give up, and just go buy another phone.  "F" that!!   I paid a lot for this phone, and I am entitled to, and need this to work outside of the AT&T network

Both AT&T and Samsung Point fingers at each other as to why my phone couldn't be unlocked.

As far as I'm concerned, they both are liable and negligent in this unlocking fiasco. I bought the Device from Samsung, and AT&T locked it down by putting their software on it.

Samsung  confirmed my purchase through Samsung.com, yet defiantly says they can't and won't unlock my phone. They Lie and say that they have no way to unlock my phone because they have no department that does that , and AT&T has to Unlock it.

After 20 different calls to AT&T starting in Mid-August (OVER 1.5 MONTHS) I Finally found a representative who knew what the F they were doing, and they were able to provide me a NCK (Network Unlock Code), but the code they provided didn't work, and now it's fully MCK locked.

Now AT&T is again pointing its finger at Samsung saying they need to provide a MCK code, yet Samsung support told me that they do not have a department that does that.

Moral of the story??  NEVER EVER BUY A SAMSUNG PHONE (Unless it's unlocked) because they won't help you even though you bought the phone from them, And NEVER EVER BUY A PHONE FROM AT&T OR ONE WITH THEIR SOFTWARE ON IT!!

Tomorrow, I will take the advice of what other have said, and will file both a BBB complaint, and an FCC complaint for both Samsung, and AT&T.

I will also contact the Law Firm that handled the last Class Action Suit against AT&T  and also try to convince them to pursue Samsung for the same negligence.

My story is Horrific, and I have all the calls documented. I'm PISSED!!

You are So spot on. I paid for my phones outright with AT&T. I got a network code from them , followed the instructions. NO GO. I re applied for the unlock code. Again I'm sent the same instructions in an email with the same code. Now I have a Phone requesting an MCK. Too many failed attempts.

Filed complaint with BBB, FTC(Federal Trade Commission), FCC

As with you contacting AT&T over 40 hours on the phone, My open case number was closed because they now have further charged my account with more charges. Account not in good standing. I paid for the Phone I'd like it unlocked. Why would i give them another cent. I paid for the phone in full. String arming your customer base it a great way to keep your customer numbers up!

One thing that really got me thru this entire ordeal. The Lies that were coming out of AT&T customer service people. Every call, lies lies, lies. do this and it will solve the issue, oh hummm that didn't work? Oh just pays this amount and that will solve it. OH hmmmm sory that didnt work either let me see. ahh yes pay this and it will resolve the issue. Oh really that didn't work? I see it now pay this and it will fix it all! How about I am not giving you another dime until this is resolved.

Angry and bitter. When a phone is paid. the phone should be released. period. if ATT's petty way! Tyrants!

As with you my phone is paid for, I contact AT&T they refuse to cooperate. Samsung says call AT&T. Wow I paid $1800 dollars for a phone no one is willing to work on because they chose to continue to add on charges.

This is some how illegal and yes like you I will be filing complaints with the FCC and BBB.

Considering going on a social media blitz and creating a  web page the tells you why AT&T SUX and you should never give them any of your hard earned money.

follow up Complaints with BBB, FTC and FCC were initiated on 10-25-23

Hello there! If anyone in the future will have problem with the MCK code, try this, it worked for me:

1. Download Key-tool (i used version 6.3) and install it.

2. Make an account, it’s free.

3. Log in the app.

4. Check if your phone is supported by pressing Info button. You will see there

  • Supported Operation: Reset MCK Code (Qualcomm
  • - Operation Cost: 2 Credits

if it’s supported.

5. Buy credits, talk with the resellers from their page. I needed 2 credits to Unlock the MCK.

6. And now go to Services in the app, Reset the MCK command. And let the magic begin.

after this you will still need the NCK code from your provider, but this should be easier to obtain than the MCK code.

have a nice day!
