Anyone or samsung have a solution or update to resolve the above problem? There's always an error message " Couldn't Restore Messages check your phone's internet connection and tap retry to restore. " when it starts to restore the google drive backup which the backup was for 9th Dec 2021. My internet connection has no issue and even when I switch to wifi still the same error message. By the way I do not have a local backup as I forgot to do it and I thought google drive will be more than enough. Who knows....

All the account info use to backup previously is correct and also I've google play services installed and mobile number used for restoration is the same that I used all these while.

Anyone have a better solution?

Samsung please look into this problem and release an update fast.

Hello Jinzai. I am Faiz, from Samsung.

We're sorry to learn of your experience with your Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Can we trouble you to perform the following troubleshooting steps?

Step 1 : Perform “Soft Reset”. Kindly refer to the below steps:
>> Please hold the power button and volume down button simultaneously. While holding both of the buttons, the phone will automatically restart.
>> You can release the buttons once the phone prompt with Samsung logo after the phone already turn on

Step 2 : Clear individual Cached Data
- Settings > Apps > Google Drive> Storage > Clear Cache.
- Settings > Apps > Whatsapp> Storage > Clear Cache.

Step 3 : Reset Network Settings.
Resetting network settings reset all data connections back to the out of the box factory defaults. The following changes will occur by performing a Reset of network settings.

*Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
*Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
*Background data sync settings will be turned on.
*Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned
on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
*Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

To perform a Network reset, follow these steps.

>> Go to Settings
>> Tap General management
>> Now select Reset and Reset settings.

If the issue persists, we would like to propose the Smart Tutor. The advantage is, we will be able to assist you with further troubleshooting over the call. Please call our Samsung Care Line 1800-726-7864 regarding this service. Our experts at Samsung Care Line will advise and assist you in details.

Thank you

Hi Faiz, 1) Soft reset will it delete anything from my phone? 2) I also forgot there's other issue after android 12 update : the fonts became very tiny and I know u will say can adjust it in display fonts or zoom screen rate but that's ridiculous what's an upgrade like that cause the fonts to become tiny and individually we have to go and adjust??? Omg... 2) Have also realise that the phone gets hot even with the slightest usage of like just booking a grab or abit of whatsapping and it starts to get hot. Previously this issue is there also on android 11.

Your WhatsApp backup could be corrupted, usually happens with data that spans over years of accumulation without any form of housekeeping.

Allakazoo if u read my post thoroughly I already said the backup is 9th Dec 2021 so it shouldn't be the case. What u said I know about it also.

I'm sorry, last backup on 9 Dec doesn't mean it won't get corrupted. I'm no expert. Just commenting on what I suspect could be the case. Hope you resolve your issue. Good luck!

Allakazoo hmmm... don't think it's corrupted cause if it is it'll have error message when opening or it'll be un-readable when we restore means it can't detect any backups at all. Thanks for the advise 😊 appreciated.

Looks like One UI 4 is really screwing up a lot of S21 users ...
