I've been having an issue with the fingerprint scanner but can't seem to find out if it's the hardware or software problem as it only occurred after updating to android 11. Ran diagnostic test and it says all pass however the fingerprint scanner still dosent work and always gives the message to cover the scanner fully or press harder, not registering ant fingerprint.

Do you have a screen protector on your phone? If yes, please try this method, tap on settings, display and turn on touch sensitivity. If it still doesn't fix the issue, please remove your screen protector and try again if there is one.

If this helped, please click the three dots above my comment and click accept solution. Thanks! :)Screenshot_20220324-073752_Settings.jpg

Hi... a few questions to zoom in more accurate on your problem...

1. Which phone model u using?

2. It's under screen display or side mounted fingerprint scanner?

3. U using glass or flim type of screen protector?

Just a short intro on my own S21 Ultra fingerprint scanner small issue... I m using the best glass screen protector WhiteStone Dome brand at $50 plus one piece but also got slight problem around 75% of time my finger print is registered...

Once u put screen protector sure will at least got slight effect... unless u totally not using anything then sure no problem... if u got dry finger like me even worse...

hi!
1) S20 Ultra 5G
2) underscreen display ultrasonic sensor
3) film type, hydrogen gel screen protector got it from a verified seller on shoppee that said it would work with fingerprint, just replaced it and it worked on the first day but subsequently not anymore, gives the same error of cover the sensor completely

Hello thisbrandon. I am Faiz, from Samsung.

We're sorry for the experience. Can we trouble you to perform the following troubleshooting steps?

Step 1: Monitor in “Safe Mode”.
Note: When you exit “Safe Mode” some of your customization options (Wallpapers, Themes, Etc.) may be reset to default. The device will require your backup password to unlock the phone after rebooting.

To enable safe mode, please follow the steps below:
i. Power off the phone.
ii. Power on the phone. The Galaxy logo displays.
iii. When the Samsung logo appears press and hold the volume down button.
iv. 'Safe Mode' displays on the bottom left hand side of the screen when the steps above are done correctly.

Verify whether the issue is resolved in safe mode. If the issue is not replicated in safe mode, it may be due to the 3rd party application; it can be resolved by uninstalling the application(s) causing the problem by going to Apps>> Settings>> Applications>> uninstall the app one by one and check which app is causing the issue.

v. To exit Safe Mode, simply restart the phone. When it reboots, it will no longer be in Safe Mode.

Step 2: Do a sensor test via Samsung Member App
- Open the Samsung Member App > Get Help > tap View tests under Diagnostics > Press Fingerprint recognition > See the result.

Step 3: Remove fingerprint(s) data on your device and re-register it again.

If the issue persists, we would like to propose the Smart Tutor. The advantage is, we will be able to assist you with further troubleshooting over the call. Please call our Samsung Care Line 1800-726-7864 regarding this service. Our experts at Samsung Care Line will advise and assist you in detail.

Thank you.
