After updating my phone to Android 13 / One UI 5 on my S21 Ultra 5G, I'm unable to unlock it. Every time I type my password, it says' it's incorrect. I've been keying in the same password everyday for more than a year, there is no way I'm typing in the wrong password.

I tried to use Find My Mobile's remote unlock function but my remote unlock is off. I'm unable to use Find My Mobile's Backup and Retrieve calls/messages function as both of them require remote unlock to be on! Contacted them via live chat, they are unable to remotely turn on remote unlock, went down to service center, they said have to factory reset my phone and lose all my data! The service technician still adamant that security update did not lock me out of my phone but rather that I forget my password, pushing responsibility away. When I showed them this can happen as it has happened in the past:

2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/locked-out-of-my-phone-after-updating-to-android-13-help.4524715/

They say it's US site not SG community....

I spoke to the manager of the service center and she said I'm the only one with this issue.

Feedback for Samsung: Please develop the ability to turn remote unlock on if customer is locked out of their phone.

Service Centre's factory reset is not acceptable. Samsung please find a solution quick!

Like and comment if anyone else has the same issue.

I went down to the service center for the second time and guess what? I found another customer facing the same issue. So certainly I'm not the only one!

If Samsung is sincerely sorry then Samsung should take responsibility and not be in denial like what I experienced in the service center. Also, Samsung should compensate us for the lost of our data and troubles if resetting is the only option.

As shown in the link above, this first happened in 2019! I've yet to factory reset my phone and still waiting for a solution. Please do something about this!

Anyone else experiencing the same issue please comment here.

You are not the only one with this problem.

Went from Note 9 to S22 ultra on Nov. 30th. New phone shipped with Android 12 installed. Setup new phone, transferred data to it, and set password on the S22. Password worked fine several times that night.

Android 13 update completed later that night and I was no longer able to unlock new phone. I am certain I was not putting my password in wrong. Showing the password in field before submitting confirmed this. No luck getting in. Remote unlock also did not work.

I had to factory reset. Thankfully I didn't have much to lose on new phone as I had just upgraded and was able to re-transfer data to new phone again, but extremely frustrating nonetheless. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you turn on remote unlock in your phone before you got locked out?

Anyone else have the same experience keep them coming.

I am facing the same issue and the answer Samsung is giving is to do a factory reset. But hello why should I lost my precious photos when it is not my fault for getting locked out of my own handphone???

I have been locked out for more than a week and yet to do a factory reset. Waiting for Samsung to provide me a solution!!!

This happened to me as well after the upgrade to Android 13 - don't let Samsung Support tell you that it's not a known issue like they did with me. I wasted a couple of hours after being sent to a local service centre who could do nothing.

Agree with other posters - being told to do a factory reset is unacceptable and relying on Remote Unlock (which I didn't have turned on for security reasons) is not a solution.

OK..  found the solution!!!

Scraped through my memory for this....

In the past we set a password that was 17 characters... but the max password length was 16 characters.. some time in the past the system allowed a longer password but anything past 16 characters was ignored.. it seems that no longer happens.. typed in the first 16 only and bingo.. it unlocked!!!
