Hi. It seems that the auto restart function under battery and device care has been removed. Who knows how to schedule this again... cannot find in Modes and Routines..

Hello. After getting the latest OS Update, that option you mentioned is not there anymore. I am using S22 Ultra.

Hello Ervy,

Sorry to hear that, about your experience with the recent updates on your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which has a missing scheduled auto-restart features and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused you.

You can submit an error report through Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Settings/System".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.

As an alternative,  you can turn On Auto Optimization and then your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will decide when it wants to Auto-Restart and Optimize.

Step 1. From Settings, swipe up and tap Battery & device care.

Step 2. Tap More Options (three vertical dots) and then tap Auto Action.

Step 3. Enable Daily Auto Optimize to automatically optimize your phone once a day. The optimization feature improves your phone's performance by identifying applications that are draining excessively on the battery. Tap the Daily Automatic Optimization tab to set the best time for automatic daily optimization.

So, here's what makes getting rid of this feature unhelpful.

1) Samsung rescinds the option to customize the restart feature

2) Samsung decides that an auto restart as a needed basis is convenient for the user, it's not

3) Samsung requires that I unlock my phone after the restart to re-enable notifications and alarms

4) User is late to work because they cannot unlock their phone while sleeping and misses their alarm because of reason 3

5) User must now have to set a reminder to manually restart their phone and buy an actual alarm clock that doesn't rely on their phone, which nullifies a lot of the automation features of a smart home i.e. turning on lights

This idea was not really though out for the consumer/user as everyone has their own times of when they're not using their phone.

This! When the phone restarts it clears all notifications except for texts and I think missed calls. So any app notifications, calendar reminders, and messenger messages are gone. Along with, like you said, restarting on a work night and not getting alarms until you unlock the device, which means oversleeping and being late to work. "Sorry I'm late, my phone restarted itself last night. Again."

I loved the set auto restart because I had it on for Friday night (Saturday morning I guess) at 3am when I don't have work the next day and have time to check through all my usual apps I get notifications from.

I really hate that the only options now are auto restart whenever my device decides it needs to or me trying to remember to restart my phone manually once a week.

I'm not trying to start a rant but my Mate 20x was so cool that if I powered my phone off ... it would automatically turn itself back on for any schedule alarms.

The following options are not available on my Samsung Galaxy S20 5G phone:

Step 2. Tap the More options (the three vertical dots).

Step 3. Select Automation.

Step 4. Tap Auto restart at set times.

Note: I did locate 'Restart when needed' under Battery and Device Care -> Auto optimization, but there is no option to set a schedule after selecting that option.

Yeah but you can't schedule a restart.
