Galaxy S
Is the update worth it? Any issues about battery life or performance? Should I update immediately as soon as I get it?

I'd say yes.
There's not much of a change but you'll feel that your device may be faster than before.
You may experience bugs (mine would be the random glitchy screen; it's like a static TV but it only appears for a split second).
Battery and every other else is good.
I installed mine as soon as I was notified that the update can be installed.

Galaxy SThank you, Retr0_User, for your inquiry here.
Software updates are like oil changes and tune-ups for your phone or tablets as they keep things running smoothly. They also help improve the user interface, enhance security, and remove minor bugs.
We recommend updating the software whenever a new version is available, so you can make sure your device stays in tip-top shape.
