The screen of my S20+ turned white out of sudden last weekend. It has been working perfectly since 1 year and 4 months ago until the recent software update in early September.

I went to the Service Centre at Vivo City yesterday. After the engineer accessed my phone, I was told it was a hardware issue. The replacement of the screen would cost me about $400 with 1-month warranty. The agent was kind enough to suggest checking with my service provider if I could renew my contract to get a new phone at less cost.
I googled about the 3rd party repair services. They charge between $180 - $350 depending on the grade of the compatible LCD screen.
I will probably spend the money to get new phone but unlikely to be Samsung again due to the durability of the product and the distress of going through the inconvenience in your daily live when my phone is faulty again.
The regular back up is very important to users even if you are using a Samsung flagship product which is perceived to be more reliable and lasting. It will also help you to decide your next phone if you are forced to change one quickly.

Galaxy SJust happened to my s20 this week. And I found that the so called 1 year warranty has been voided because I did not buy from an authorized dealer! So do not buy from 3rd party vendors unless you're willing to take the risk.

Thanks for your advice. In my case there is no difference between buying a Samsung mobile from an authorised dealer or not if the phone starts to show problems like ours after 1 year and no active investigation by Samsung after numerous cases reported to them. In other words, we were already taking the risk on the day when we bought the phone.

There is nothing we can do other than spending hundreds of dollars either on the repair or buying another phone if Samsung is passive in acknowledging the wide-spreading issues. I am sure the customers will make a better choice next time based on their experience.

Yes.. I googled after all this happened. Its a common issue. Anyway, samsung replaced my LCD at $350 and they said they threw in a new battery. All with 1 month warranty. So it's the same price as at phone shops with LCD repair at 278 minus battery. I didn't check that the phone seller wasn't authorised cos he said "1year samsung guarantee". I would have bought straight from Samsung if they had offered it in the first place.
