I posted my experience of Galaxy phones damage after UI update, but the post was marked as Spam. Why?

Dear fellow Samsung users. I would like to share my bad experience with Samsung Singapore recently.

Two of my phones were damaged due to Samsung UI 6.1 update.

1. Galaxy S22 Ultra (bought in May 2023)

Last week, my Galaxy S22 Ultra got into the restarting loop after the UI 6.1 update.  Before that, the phone worked perfectly.

After the update, the phone took very long time to enter the home screen. But the system was not so responsive. It even took about a minute to load the pattern and fingerprint login interface. After entering home screen and I tried to do some setting, it would prompt " system process App is not responding (or something similar, cannot remember clearly)", you can only select "Wait" or "Close app". After 1 or 2 minutes,  the phone would restart. And the same symptom after restart. Don't know after how many restarts, it would show the below recovery screen.

No matter you select "try again" or "power off". The phone will restart and repeat the cycles.

I tried factory reset, it would not help.

I tried the Erase app data in the above screen, it will stuck in Safe Mode. But the restarting loop continued.

I had a search on the internet and even within Samsung Members app, a lot of users faced similar problems after UI update to 6.1 since a few months ago. I realized this could be a common problem widely affects many users, which caused by the UI update. But I did not find any response or announcement from Samsung regarding this complaint. Some users were advised by Samsung service center to pay hundreds of dollars to replace the motherboard.

I  found that my Galaxy S21 LCD got a pink line after UI update is also a common issue encountered by many Galaxy phone users. Some lucky users got free screen replacement  even their phones are out of warranty.

I wrote to the Samsung through the "Email the CEO" to complain the damages of my two phones after the updates, and got a reply from VOC Management team Samsung Electronics Singapore and agreed to reply within one working day. The next day, I received a phone call from Samsung Singapore and was informed they could give free repair as my phones were out of warranty. The damages may not due to the updates, etc. I feel a reputable company like Samsung should not behave in this way. Consumers are bearing the consequences of phone damage due to not properly tested UI updates.

How could the UI update become a dangerous matter?

I happened to put the phone on a wireless charger in safe mode, surprisingly the phone stopped the restarting. The phone was responsive. I decided not to restart the phone (Note: the phone would continue the restart loop even the charger was connected).

So I took this opportunity to visit Samsung service center (by appointment only). The service consultant took my phone to the service room and did a hard reset, the phone came out of safe mode, but the phone kept restarting like before. We are back to square one.

The service consultant said this must be a hardware issue. The motherboard needed to be changed. I would have to pay SGD 700+ if decided to repair.

Why shall I pay for the repair caused by Samsung UI update?

At home I put the phone on the wireless charger. The phone stopped restarting and became normal again. Can you please tell me whether this still a hardware problem? I removed the wireless charger, the phone is still in working condition. I think I found a temporary solution.  I will not restart the phone again, until a new UI from Samsung to address this problem.

Hope those with similar problem can try and see whether a wireless charger can rescue the Galaxy S22 Ultra from restarting loop.

I am a loyal Samsung product supporter for the past years. I owned Samsung S20FE, S21, S22Ultra, S23FE, fridges, TVs, washing machine, tablets, galaxy watches. Base on this bad experience, I think it will be very difficult for me to trust Samsung again.

Please give me a reply if this works for your galaxy phone stuck in restart loop.

Not sure if u have tried this but since u mention u did a factory reset, did u try to do a firmware reflash? Like reinstalling the OS

Reinstall the OS is not possible without unlocking the bootloader. That would create problems for apps such as mobile banking. Not an option for me.

They said no free replacement. I would not spend on this and will buy other brands in future.

Just an update to other users. My S22 Ultra would be in the boot looping if restart. After putting on a wireless charger and updating it to 1 September 2024 Android security patch level, the phone stopped boot looping . So far it returned to normal. Even the esim can be removed as well. Apparently, the bootlooping is due to the last update. With the new update, Samsung corrected the mistake.
