Already tried searching for answers in other forums with people who have a similar problem, but even after following that advice system storage is still insanely high at 157GB. I already restarted and updated my phone and allowed acces to files. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hey there, Chrisyoto! Extra files and cache might be the reason your phone's system is taking up too much space. We can go ahead and wipe your cache partition. Doing so clears out temporary files from your phone's operating system. It also cleans up any extra files from apps you have already uninstalled. This can help resolve some issues as it clears out potential bugs. It's completely safe, and here's how you can do it:

  1. Turn off device
  2. Connect your device to a computer
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons
  4. Once the Android recovery screen shows up, release all buttons
  5. Use the Volume Down button to hover over "Wipe cache partition"
  6. Press the Power button to select "Wipe cache partition"
  7. Use the Volume Down button to hover over "Yes"
  8. Again, use the Power button to select and confirm your choice
  9. Wait for the system to wipe the cache
  10. Reboot your device like normal

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I read there's a confusion on how the system reads the system storage and Samsung will fix it in the next OS update, One UI 6.

Do I need to backup my files if I parititon? Or is it safe to reboot without having to risk losing my files and images/videos?

Hi again, Chrisyoto! Unlike a Factory Reset, this won't delete your data. It simply clears the cache partition where temporary files are stored, which can sometimes lead to problems especially with a new update. 😊

Hello Chrisyoto,

Wiping the cache partition on your mobile phone can be a very good way to free up valuable storage space. By purging temporary system files from the cache, you can boost the performance of your mobile phone. No, you will not lose any files, images and videos.
