Galaxy SNot exactly - any device that uses an AMOLED screen is prone to this. This includes iPhones, Pixels, Nothing, etc. The green line is usually caused by damage to the screen itself, be it a faulty data ribbon or a tiny crack on the screen. There has been no evidence about software updates causing the green line.
Unfortunately, the only way a green line can be resolved is with a screen replacement. Head over to a Samsung Service Center near you for diagnosis and repair to see how much it'll set you back. You can also estimate the cost by visiting this link: Eco-Conscious Repair | Samsung Philippines
