Defective Samsung Z Flip 6 (main screen is blank)

Three months into using a Samsung Z flip 6 (which I pre-ordered on samsung official website), my phone has become defective and unusable. The main screen is completely blank. Only the cover screen works. This is not an isolated issue. I have found many other flip 6 users encountering the same issue.

I can’t access / transfer / retrieve the data in my phone without it being fixed. So I sent the faulty phone to an authorised Samsung service centre to diagnose the issue. (The nearest one is 1 hour from my place.) They told me I will have to leave my device with them for days for the repair. I feel insecure leaving my phone with them because the phone contains a lot of my personal data. They told me that the data can only be accessed after the phone is fixed.

As this is clearly a manufacturing issue, I requested a refund. They informed me that to apply for a refund, I would need to hand them my phone, as it would be returned to Samsung if the refund is approved. Unfortunately, this means they won’t be able to repair the phone or assist with data recovery. I asked if they could assist with repairing my phone and recovering my data first, and then allow me to proceed with the refund and return. But their answer is no.

If I want to get back the data in my phone, the only way is to proceed with repair (covered by warranty) but not refund nor replacement. 

Their manufacturing problem has caused me to lose access to the data in my phone. Shouldn’t they make a fair refund of the purchase amount and also help me to fix the phone so that I can get back my data before asking me to return the phone to them? 

Anyone encountered a similar issue before? What are your suggestions? 

In the worst case, is there anyone interested in a collective action against Samsung?

I have the same issue with my Flip 6, main screen is black, outside screen works. I used this method to backup the data and factory reset and will be taking it in for a warranty claim soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRjcRfPVKy0

about your data it's entirely your fault, because you don't backup your data!

you can ask refund but ofc no data can be recovered, so please learn your lesson, ALWAYS BACKUP your data whenever possible, backup them either offline or online, you can also subscribe to gdrive/onedrive for online backup, so if you ask for refund you don't lost anything.

idk why most people are lazy to backup data, Pre-order a filp 6 already an expensive thing, i believe you can subs to gdrive 2TB each month because you can afford flip 6, smh

so my suggestion just ask for free charge of repair, grab your data, backup it, then next year you can trade in your flip 6 to flip 7, but again please and please backup your data whenever possible, don't wait your phone broken first

I having the same issue as you, the worst parts after I hand over my phone to them,customer service hotline is totally unreachable,  I don't think will continuing using their products. REALLY ***.

I have reset my phone to factory settings. Now I will not update for a wee while. Not great for security but Samsung have really messed up here.....
