Galaxy ZI had a dumbfounding experience trying to get my phone fixed, and thought I'd bring it to attention if anyone had a similar experience or could help.
I got the Z Flip 5 in November, and love the dang thing, but a few months in I noticed the black plastic lining on the inside screen started cracking around the hinge. Eventually, a small, flimsy piece started shooting out of the phone. I saw internally where the piece would be attached (had a little hole at the top) but I couldn't get it to stay as every time I opened my phone, it flung back out again.
I ignored it for some time, taped it to keep it out of the way and avoid getting more damaged, only for it to happen on the other side as well! On that side the screen protector had also started to lift, so I decided it was finally time to get it fixed. Made an appt at my closest uBreakiFix, only to get quoted over $450 (!!) and told the process of repair, which was excessive and beyond unnecessary for the damage that was done. Not to mention, the damage is most likely due to the cheap plastic the phone was made with, and not my misuse.
I was quoted over $450 to fix a broken piece of plastic and a screen protector. Apparently, they are both attached directly to the screen, so I'd have to replace the entire screen and get "basically a new phone", as it was put by the worker there. I don't want a new phone, I would like the incredibly small but fragile pieces that have been broken to be repaired without being quoted a beyond ridiculous price. I don't know who they think is paying that, but I absolutely was not, and will not.
So instead of leaving happy with my phone fixed, I left disappointed and frustrated, as I couldn't even believe what I had heard in there. At this point I'm left with super glue and being extra, extra careful with it, because if this is really the repair process and price, you will never find me at a Samsung repair service ever again.

Galaxy Z- Same thing happened to mines I bought it July and at the beginning of December it started getting the green bands starting at the right hinge but it would happen intermittently. It's been more frequent and the repair place said the fragmenting on the black screen hinge is signs of physical damage and that was the excuse for not repairing my screen free of charge. That plastic border indeed is flimsy and cheap. My finger could pry it off of I tried. They also said the scratches on the outside hinge was physical damage nope just soft metal that rubbed against my wallet or keys. The phone always had a screen protector and case on it. I only took off the screen protector and case to send it in to the authorized repair center. At this point I'm waiting for a class action lawsuit or the federal version of a lemon law. Samsung ought to be ashamed for putting out such a cheaply made phone and charging so much for it if the phone wasn't so poor quality they'd have a better product warranty on it that they could stand behind but they know the phone was made crappily so they didn't care to rip off customers. So what if the flip and full screens are in the beginning of their development stages that's not an excuse to make a crappy phone with crappy quality materials and to push it out there but refuse to repair it due to manufacture quality issues. Funny the forum said I couldn't post unless I removed the word cra¢√ing. The message body contains cra¢√, which is not permitted in this community.
