If you have registered for the previous galaxy forever last year (Z series gen 6), then you are entitled to trade-in and upgrade to the new Z series gen 7 with the programme (email should have come in to your inbox with details)
If you're new, you can register to be eligible for next year's gen 8.
You have the choice of upgrading or just trade-in/sell it off to other parties, but this programme offers better trade-in value.
The galaxy programme is separate and does not impact any pre-order offers you enjoy, think of it as an "option" to protect your device value (though this applies only if you upgrade to the next gen)

I appreciate your kind response. As far as I am aware, there is a difference of nearly 1,000 in the trade-in value. However, I am uncertain about the specifics of overtrade eligibility.
The galaxy programme is designed for users that upgrade annually and to give the best possible value.
That being said, you are still free to hunt for the best deals. Different retailers will offer different freebies/rebates that can be in the form of product or vouchers.
Overtrade is subject to device brand/type/condition so there is no fixed rule (also campaign-dependent)
