I turn on Adaptive battery (and Protect battery, 85% max charge) on my Z Fold3 but notice that it still drains battery overnight at a surprsingly high rate. Maybe it has something to do with the apps I have installed and continue to run in the background, even while I am asleep.
Anyway, I have since set Always On Display to 'Tap to show' and also set the following Bixby Routines, both of which has helped to limit my battery drain overnight.

I added the 2nd Routine to turn off Power Saving as I noticed sometimes the 1st Routine doesn't reverse its actions properly.

Give these settings a try if you notice a high level of battery drain on your Z Fold3 overnight. Cheers.

Hello FrankGPani. I am Faiz from Samsung.

We're sorry for the experience with your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Can we trouble you to perform the following troubleshooting steps?

Step 1 : Perform “Soft Reset”. Kindly refer to the below steps:
>> Please hold the power button and volume down button simultaneously. While holding both of the buttons, the phone will automatically restart.
>> You can release the buttons once the phone prompt with Samsung logo after the phone already turn on

Step 2 : Enabling “Safe Mode”. It boots the phone with factory settings, while temporarily disabling all the third party applications. This helps us to understand whether the issue is caused due to any application conflict or a software problem.
>> Power off the phone.
>> Power on the phone. The Galaxy logo displays.
>> When the Samsung logo appears press and hold the volume down button.
>> 'Safe Mode' displays on the bottom left hand side of the screen when the steps above are done correctly.
>> You may restart your device to exit from safe mode

Verify whether the issue is resolved in the safe mode. If the issue is not replicated in safe mode, it may be due to the 3rd party application; it can be resolved by uninstalling the application(s) causing the problem by going to Apps>> Settings>> Applications>> uninstall the app one by one and check which app is causing the issue.

Step 3 : Enable power saving mode
- Launch settinng> Tap on Battery and device care> Tap on battery> Enable power saving

However, if the issue persists, we would like to propose the Smart Tutor. The advantage is, we will be able to assist you with further troubleshooting over the call. Please call our Samsung Care Line 1800-726-7864 regarding this service. Our experts at Samsung Care Line will advise and assist you in details.

Hope this can help you.

Thank you.

Hi Faiz, thanks for reaching out but your canned response is not helpful to the discussion. This is not a 'Soft Reset' kind of issue, and 'Safe Mode' will not help in this instance, if you read and understand my post. The number of 3rd party applications on my phone also make the 'uninstall the app one by one' troubleshooting step not practical or feasible.

If you or Samsung want to be genuinely helpful, you can (i) share the expected standard battery drain rate of the phone when it's not in use overnight (with and without Always On Display), and/or (ii) provide software diagnostic options that can monitor and report on battery usage by individuals app while the phone is locked and not in use.

The only troubleshooting step you mention that is helpful is what I have already implemented, which is to put the phone into Power Saving mode. Again if you have bother to read the post instead of just pasting your standard response. What I was suggesting to the community is to automate turning On (and off) Power Saving mode overnight using Bixby Routines.

If you or Samsung have some genuinely useful ideas or suggestions on extending battery life on the Z Fold3 (e.g. turn off 5G and use only LTE), I would be interested to hear them. Cheers.
