Greetings!

I would just like to share an information about those members who are using a Flip/Fold Phone.

I've been using my zflip4 for almost 11 months now (ever since release). This July 2023, I came across a problem wherein whenever I "flip" or close the phone, it automatically shuts itself down. I was confused and panicked a bit while I was looking for the problem.

The next day after that incident, I went to our local Samsung Service Center. My Flip 4 was pre ordered so it had a lot of Pre-Order Benefits (POB) including the warranty. They told me to backup all of my files on the phone before surrendering it them for further inspection.

Now here's where it got all messed up;
Upon surrendering the phone, I thought it was already covered by Warranty as they told me it was. A couple days later, I received a call from them saying it wouldn't be covered by warranty due to impact damage on the hinge. If it weren't for the damage, everything will be under warranty. But in my case, it wasn't. I came back to the Service Center, discussed to them what's the next step for the device and how much will I be paying for the repair.

It was around ₱18,200.00 when I let them repaired it. It was price-y so I asked for a discount. A coupke days passed by and number called me. It was from the Official Samsung Center of the Philippines. They called me to inform that my request for discount will be accepted and will be processed once the call ended. According to them, the discount is based on a chart that they have on default across samsung galaxy devices, and the discount I got was around ₱5,579.50 for the parts only. It excludes labor and tax. It was already a week since my phone was surrendered. Turns out the repair was done, but the discount was still in process. We and the people at the Service Center Tried our best to ask and process it ASAP. After 2 weeks, my phone was finally ready to be released.

And that was the whole process. It was all over the place, Samsung kept delaying but we made it through. I didn't got to asked what wa the issue but I think it was the flex cord of the screen attached to the motherboars was loosen up. Now here are tips that I've learned from that encounter:

1. NEVER ever removed the bumps on the edges of your flip/fold phones. Those protect the Screen itself from the folding issue that I've encountered. The bumps on my flip 4 got accidentally removed maybe due to phone cases or other factors.

2. CHOOSE your phone Cases wisely. Look for a great quality phone case that can protect your phone (in general). Especially Flip/Fold Series are delicate and more prone to damages compared to bar type phones. Hard Cases may do but be careful because it might scratch the railings/sides of the phone. I think the best phone cases so far are hard but silicon types. They are easy to apply and remove, at the same time it has enough thickness to protect the phones. Also look for phone cases that protects the hinges. In my case the hinge was slightly damaged on the edges.

3. CLEAN your phone atleast 1-2 times a week. It's sanitry care for your phone also.

4. PLEASE take care of your phone. At the best your capabilities, Try not to drop the phone. It will be a benefit for you especially when problems/issues comes and your phone's under warranty, your transaction will be processed easily when trying to repair it.

5. DON'T ever panic. Know that samsung has this really great system. When you encounter issues/problems, try to search for it on trusted sites for a solution, and if repair is needed, you can always use the samsung members app for assistance or you can directly go to your local Samsung Authorized Service Center for further inspection.

That's all, I hope this information helps you in the future when you encounter this problem. Thank you so much!

This is currently happening to my Galaxy fold 4.. The issue is the internal screen shuts down after a couple of seconds after unfolding my phone.. As soon as it shuts down, the front screen is no longer on as well.. Luckily, there's no problem with using the front screen alone so I'm stucked with the front screen and the idea of using a fold phone is "mehh".. Apparently this is ongoing issue across all Samsung foldables when I came across this forum online.. Lucky for you the costs is is just a shy below 19k, when I asked mine, the total is almost 33k.. These service centers always insists on a dent or scraych whenever their customers are claiming their warranty even when there's none.. I'm using an original Samsung Fold 4 case that came in with a stylus so it is nearly impossible for my phone to have a dent on a part where it's covered by the case.. Ridiculous tbh when the phone itself has a dent and the case is smooth AF..
