I bought Samsung UV sterilizer recently during the December sale. However after I disinfect my phone, I notice that there is a weird burnt smell on my phone. I never tried to sterilize my phone again since then.

Background: I put my phone in the clear case (provided by Samsung during purchase) during the sterilizing cycle. I suspect that the smell is from phone casing which interact with the UV light. I do think that I should remove the casing next time when using the sterilizer, but this leads to next questions.

Questions:

1. Is this burning smell normal? Do other people get this as well?

2. If the phone casing have negative interaction with the UV light, won't I have the same burning smell even when I uncase the phone & sterilize the casing only?

3. Can this also affect other items like spectacles, ear buds, etc. where some of the material is somewhat plasticky? This will degrade the quality and or the durability of the items, won't it?

I don't think it's normal because I use another same model phone from my friend & sanitize it but it didn't have any burnt smell, even with the plastic case. I also tried to experiment by sanitizing my phone with the case (again) AND without the case, but ended with same burnt smell. The smell is stronger when its with the casing though. I think I should ask the customer service on this whether my phone is on faulty and claim warranty. I hope it's not faulty... :-<

This is how it looks like inside the box. It supports wireless charge but only if your phone support it & only when you put your phone inside the box. I read somewhere that it can support wireless charge even if not inside the box.. this is not true!
