Hello agile29,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your Samsung Galaxy smartphone having issues with the camera that won't open, and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused you.

I really understand what you are going through right now - uncertain what's behind the reason why your camera does not function as it should. But don't worry; we are here to assist, guide, and offer solutions to restore it to optimum performance.

Before you try out the recommendations below, be sure to check if your device's software and related apps are updated to the latest version. To update your mobile device's software, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

Reboot your device in Safe Mode.

Booting your Samsung smartphone in safe mode is also another option to find out if the camera is working or not. Safe mode is like a diagnostic tool to help identify the problems on your device.

Step 1: Turn off your device then power on.

Step 2: When the Samsung logo appears by itself, press and hold the Volume down key.

Step 3: The device will switch on in Safe mode. Safe mode will be displayed on the bottom left of the screen.

If the screen works in safe mode, an app is most likely causing your issue. Remove recently downloaded apps one by one until the problem is fixed. If the problem persists when your device is running in Safe mode, the problem might not be related to an app.

To exit safe mode, restart your device.

If that doesn't work, you may submit an error report through the Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Camera".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.
