I love using the samsung notes app despite having tried other good 3rd party notes taking app. One thing that really annoyed me with samsung notes is that when I am looking for the file I want to create a note with from my connected Onedrive folder, all directories are listed out, INCLUDING the subdirectories. This makes it very annoying to look for the file I want especially if the I have multiple subdirectories with the same name like "lecture notes".
Other than that, samsung notes is really missing desktop availability. Sometimes, I want to open the notes while on pc but realised I can't. Don't get me started on syncing to OneNote because the experience is not that good.
you can use microsoft word, backup your word to your onedrive and you can edit them between PC / phone, or you can use online version of microsoft word but i usually i use offline version of word then i upload them manually to my onedrive
i also have nightmare experience with one note, not gonna use that again
for short note i usually use samsung notes, but for more important note i just use word
