I bought this charger for 1,200 pesos (around 21usd) since its what I could afford at that time, and my old charger is going bonkers...

though I've already knew this charger was a fake, I was intrigued when my phone suddenly activated "super fast charging" and purchased it on a whim. But seeing it performed, It doesn't feel like 45w charging, super fast charging is at play yes, but it made me suspicious if its a 25w charger in desguise.

Sooo, is a fake charger capable of activating SFC even if its not 25w or less?

Unfortunately, ive bought it on the mall stall nearby, but hopefully the 'warranty' the seller promised would fullfil my request for a refund

Hey userJ4y,

SFC is triggered at a minimum of 25W - especially on devices such as the A53. The reason for this is that even though the (authentic) 45W travel adapter is capable of charging at 45W, a phone's battery can only accept that much power for a short period of time (usually at the beginning.) Your device doesn't pull the full 45W from the adapter as it could damage the battery, leading to... well, not a fun time.

It could be that the fake charger you got actually has a 25W charger (instead of the advertised 45w on the box), and that's why your phone detected it as SFC.

Of course, we don't recommend that you keep using it! Only use Samsung-approved peripherals on your devices - especially your charger! You can pick one up here: 45W Travel Adapter black | Samsung Philippines

Thank you for the insight, I forgot to lay the model of my phone - Note 10 plus - which in my knowledge supports 45w charging.

And also, I hope you could entertain my final question:

does any chargers with 25w charging triggers the SFC? or is it just exclusive for samsung chargers only?

As I said, SFC will trigger at a minimum of 25W of charging (assuming of course you have the settings allowing for SFC on.)

However, again, I do not recommend using non-Samsung chargers on your device. We don't want your phone suffering battery issues due to faulty adapters!
