It's weird. I still received OTP's on my number despite having airplane mode on for the past 24 hours.

I have a routine that turns off Airplane mode and turns on mobile data when I get disconnected from my home wifi. Then, if I reconnect again, Airplane mode will turn on. Maybe that's caused this.

You are still receiving text messages even when Airplane Mode is on because you have VoWiFi turned on. With Voice over Wifi (VoWiFi) enabled, you can receive SMS and even calls as long as you are connected to a WiFi that has an internet connection. This is quite convenient for those whose cellular signal is not that strong. Turn it off, and you shall not receive Calls/SMS anymore when Airplane mode is turned on.

Hey there, Jelo! Your fellow Member, jamesrred, is correct! The reason you're still receiving messages despite being on Airplane Mode is because you VoWiFi on.
You can go ahead and turn it off by pulling down your quick settings panel then tapping the Wi-Fi Calling button, OR you can also just go to your Phone app, tap on the three buttons on the top right corner, go to Settings, then simply toggle Wi-Fi Calling off. There you have it! 🙂

OthersI am a flight attendant. I must be on airplane mode while in flight obviously. My coworkers who have apple can do texting (iMessage) while in airplane mode.
Question is what I'm reading real? can I send and receive text in airplane mode, in flight, connected to plane wifi, if my Wi-Fi calling switch is turned on?

Yes it's real! Ever since I found out about this feature I've always set my phone to airplane mode to save battery since I'm usually in a place without signal. Although I don't really use the messaging apps often, I still receive my typical messages from online orders and stuff. I think you can also send messages with it.
