As a legeacy user of your mobile phones and continually upgrading it every now and then, I experienced a frustrating situation after updating the software of my Samsung S22 Ultra. Based on my research, they called this issue as backlight bleeding (display issue) that caused my unit to become uneasy to use becuase of the flickering, and lines on my display screen.

I contacted your customer help center but they advised me to bring my phone to a customer service center and not giving any solutions first to fix it. I just bought this unit last June of 2022, never drop it and no scractches at all but after a year of using it I experienced this horrible issue in comparison with my Samsung Note 10 that I bought last 2019 that until now is still working.

To add up, I am a consistent buyer of your units which I use it as a gift for my clients every year but now after this, I will think twice becuase of this experience.

Now I am thinking if 80k+ for just a year is worth it. For other user here, dont update ur phone or ur gonna experienced the same headache.

I hope SAMSUNG will resolve this ISSUE

Hey LadyReyes,

Backlight bleed issues is a common issue in many devices - and I don't mean just Samsung. Our competitors have this issue too! Backlight bleed is a classic problem that all devices eventually experience, and is the reason why we asked you to bring your device to a Service Center for repairs.

The thing is, even if we're super careful with our devices, it still has to contend with several sources of damage:

  • Screen pressure - pressing too hard on the edges, or keeping the device inside tight jeans  / tight storage may be a cause of backlight bleed.
  • Temperature changes - materials expand / contract with temperature changes, which may cause adhesive layers under your device to weaken, allowing light leakage.
  • Aging - devices deteriorate over time. Phones, washing machines, cars - all of them eventually fail, leading to backlight bleed.

That said, please bring your device to a Samsung Service Center for evaluation and repair. They will be able to determine the cause of the backlight bleed and, depending on parts availability, you may be able to take your device home on the same day as well!

Thanks, and I hope this reply helps.

Samsung S22 Ultra OLED display can not have "backlight bleed" in the traditional sense. OLED technology does not rely on a backlight; each pixel emits its own light.

I got the same issue on my S22U display. The backlight bleed appeared right after I did software update last night. Too bad, my phone is just over a year old and I haven't fully paid it yet.
