OthersIt's all clever stuff and looks set to make these popular TVs even better than ever but there's something else that Samsung is improving and it could be one of the most important changes in years. The firm has just revealed more insight into the green credential of its next generation of tellies and there's plenty of advancements to help the planet.
Firstly, there's the packaging that these TVs arrive in with Samsung making the box much more recyclable. There's now a more simple design on the cardboard which cuts down on printing and has also allowed Samsung to get creative. In fact, TV owners can download a range of instructions to transform the box into anything from a home for your pet cat to a bookcase.
Samsung says it anticipates that, if each 2021 TV Eco-Packing Design box is re-purposed as an interior prop, 10,000 toms of greenhouse gases can be reduced this year alone.
Along with the box, there's another important change as Samsung is getting rid of the need for batteries in the remote.
All of the latest channel changers now features a solar power pack which can be boosted via sunlight of the lamps in your living room.
This innovation could help save 99 million AAA batteries ending up in the bin over the next seven years.
If you're not lucky enough to get a solar remote with your new Samsung telly then you might find another accessory that can reduce up to 80 percent of normal power consumption meaning less need to change those AAAs.
Finally, there are now improved ways to recycle plastic with Samsung saying they have now found a way to reuse this material whilst keeping the premium feel consumers have come to expect from the brand.
By incorporating more recycled materials into products, Samsung hopes to reduce over 500 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over seven years of product use.
Speaking on its blog, the company said: "Samsung has embarked on a sustainability journey that puts the environment first in all business operations with several long-term sustainability programs that include sustainable packaging design, solar cell-powered remote controls and the reduction of carbon footprints through the use of recycled materials."
