A backup is always suggested before an update. Surely you made one.

When I first downloaded this, my gallery was gone too. It appeared later. I don't know if it was restored from my backup or if it just needed more time to appear.

I think it had to regather the thumbnails of our photos cuz my gallery did the same thing and after a bit of time they showed back up
