Can I not use Android Messages as default?

I have Android Messages as default, but new txts keep going to the stock Samsung Messages?

same here. in fact, once I uninstalled Google messages and re-installed, still cannot set as default.

it might be a beta thing, like how third party launchers don't usually work with the beta either

I actually use it, and it's working fine on my S10+

might also be an issue with RCS, if other Samsung users are texting you, Google messages will not see it. it's the Chat feature (Samsung calls it), but it's really RCS

I use Textra and had the same issue. you have to go into settings>apps>default apps and manually select the messaging app. Unfortunately doing it within the app is useless.

had the issue from a Samsung S7 and an iPhone 7. Went back in and reset as default, and we'll see how it works.
This is the 4th beta I've been in and first time I've had this problem. It is a beta though and we're here to work this stuff out, so no harm no foul.
