Dark Mode

For some reason my phone went onto Dark Mode, but I didn't turn on Dark Mode. Any info and/or suggestions to correct greatly appreciated.

Wanted to include screen shot showing Dark Mode NOT on, yet phone in Dark Mode.

Go to settings, device care, set battery to optimize and it turns off dark mode

Just like that, phone back to normal. This is bizarre.

so weird. mine just went dark.

Phone seems to be going in and out of Dark Mode on its own. no rhyme or reason. Any help would be appreciated.
