Can't respond to any messages. Google message app force closes

Have you tried restarting? And setting google messages as your default?

As a workaround, Settings -> Apps -> Google Messages, Force stop, then Storage-> Clear cache

Also, if you haven't already ... reboot the phone to maintenance mode and delete the Cache Partition, then reboot back into phone.

Be sure to report the issue.
