Power off needs password or fingerprint

When I try to power off my phone, my phone shows scan your fingerprint. Even my phone is unlocked. Is it something wrong with my phone or security patch?

That seems to have been added in beta 3. Not sure if it's an intentional security feature or a bug but others noticed the same thing after the beta 3 update.

it's an extra security measure and I actually like it.

it's a good addition. if somebody takes your phone, they can't power it down to keep you from finding it.

That makes sense. By powering down they could also boot directly into recovery or download mode.

I believe it was there B4 10 one UI 2 beta. I recall having to do it in Android 9.

I like the extra security of it regardless

ya, Android 9 had this functionality as well. set it up when I first got my s10+. it's a great security feature

I noticed it a few minutes ago when I went to shut my phone off. It doesn't require it for a restart, just for a shutdown
