Wife's S10 is doing that as well. Mine has been buttery smooth. I use Google messaging app instead of the Samsung messages. Not sure if that is making a difference
Solution Suggestion - This has been working for many app issues. Under Settings > App > select the app in question > storage > clear data, then restart your phone, try ur app. when u 'clear data' you are only clearing system used data which will repopulate once phone is restarted, so no need to worry it will clear ur personal data/saved data.
