Show keyboard button

I've tried removing the keyboard button under my keyboard but when I go to settings/language and inputs/show keyboard button is grayed out and I can't turn off.

Any suggestions?

I had the same issue. here's how I got it done, if your using gestures go back to the visible buttons when I did that it took the gray away and I was able to toggle it again! please let me know if it works for you....👊

Oof. Mines works and I'm using gestures unlike what PepiDick said.

No, it works with gestures but I had to change back to the visible buttons and that took away the gray than I was able to toggle it!!! 👊
