yes, I tapped it, double tapped, triple tapped quadruple tapped who knows how many times I tapped it. I also swiped it in different directions but it won't budge

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Advanced Settings > Accessibility button, then tap "Select Actions" and uncheck "Your Phone Companion".
