Individual Facebook Messenger Notification not working

Hello. I am a new Samsung / Android user. 

Facebook Messenger's Individual / custom notification does not seem to work. It keeps on using the default settings. 

From a quick Google search I know I am not the only one having this issue. I am wondering if someone found a workaround. Thank you!
