I just experienced out of nowhere this vertical line suddenly appeared half the screen after I updated my Samsung yesterday, Aug. 30, 2024. My phone has only been in standby mode since yesterday because I am busy doing choirs and playing console games (PS5). I seldom used the phone until today (August 31). I just noticed it suddenly appear out of nowhere when I just checked some SMS messages. Clearly it's not a dead pixel because I powered off the phone and it disappeared. Then it started to come back after a few minutes; slowly, the straight line started to brighten up. Dead pixels do not come out after switching down, and when turned on, it generally comes out slowly. When I turned off and on again the device, the line is now permanent. This is caused by your OS update. I already searched the internet, and it already happened to other users. Samsung should be liable and should fix this issue for free.

I went to the Samsung store to report this issue to them. They said that they cannot help me because my warranty is already expired. They instructed me to call or send a message to Samsung Customer Support. While I was complaining about this issue, another female customer who is just looking at other samsung cp heard me complaining,. She walked by and told me that she also had the same issue like mine. She experienced the same line issue that suddenly appeared. She had it checked on another PC repair shop, but I told her that it was the Samsung OS update that made the line issue yesterday (the same day I had mine).

Anyone else experienced this issue?

If the green line keeps on blinking and doesnt look like permanent, change the theme to dark mode. Then keep on scrolling the phone. Visit areas with plenty of black background such as gallery, settings, messages, notes, until the lines becomes thinner and start to disappear.

If it doesnt work, change it to screen mode then do the same process.

I did it and the lines disappear and appear. When it appears I immediately move it to black areas and disappear again.

Another method I used was that I turned off the fast charging so that it will not heat too much while charging. And of course, turn off the phone everytime you charge it.

Yes, Samsung will blame you for it and will ask you to pay for repairs.

That's why we need to file a complaint regarding SAMSUNG. I went to DTI today but sadly it is closed since today is a holiday thingy here in Baguio. I will go back again tomorrow. For me I feel we got CHEATED/ROB by SAMSUNG. Regardless how careful or protective you are. 1 day your device will have a problem because they provide UPDATES that are not carefully checked/QA that will caused damage or harm to your device when applied. Its ok if you still have warranty but it will still give you headache and stress just to have it fix. But if you have no more warranty, you have to pay repairs worth 17k pesos or more for a problem that you didn't commit. It's like the same thing with Microsoft Worldwide bluescreen of death caused by its OS update. SAMSUNG should be accountable for the damage.

Make sure that when you argue with them with regards to Updates, the update or DATA that your phone is replaced or added with does not break your phone. But the heat that the phone experiences is what breaks the LCD and gives it its green Line. Samsung knows this issue but they refuse to acknowledge.

Thank you for the feedback. I never used my ultra for mobile gaming because I play on my consoles, ps5, nintendo switch or my rog. I use my cp for pictures, mp3, read fb msgs and web browsing. I seldom watch youtube on my mobile because I would rather watch youtube on a big screen such as TV. My cp was only in the table doing nothing in standby mode when this incident happened. I was about to read a txt msg then I noticed this line started to appear after turning on my cp. I thought at first it was a software prank or something because when I turned it off and turned it on again, it went normal. No flickering line and I can see my phone wallpaper in its full color (no white flickering line, not even a small fade of line). But then after a few mins, it started slowly to re-appear again. I tried turning off and on again but this time, the line is permanently flickering. I got panic and I don't know what to do. All I remember was I applied the OS update last night and thats it.

Updates on my complaint DTI: DTI handed me a form to write down my complaint + all the evidences that the software update caused the issue. Then there will be a schedule meeting with Samsung and me at DTI to discuss the issue. So waiting game at the moment.

Suggestion: For those who also have line issue should file a complaint as well at DTI.20240903_112140_1000013766_1725333701.jpg
