I can't use rear camera on the default Samsung Camera App. It started a few days back when the error keeps popping up just before One UI update 5.1. I have no problem using the rear cam with other apps like Messenger, Instagram, Tiktok and any other apps.

I already tried everything I read online and on the support page of the Samsung website:
- Cleared cache & data for Camera app & Gallery app
- Reset camera settings
- Wipe cache partition
- Restart phone
- Start in SAFE MODE (but the error still happens there)
& last but certainly not the least (most hassle solution listed):
- FACTORY RESET

but still the error did not go away and I still can't use the Camera app (if in rear setting).

I am now using Open Camera because I still need to use my cam but IT'S NEVER THE SAME. 🥺🥺🥺

If anyone can help me please?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hello chckenjoy,

We apologize for the inconvenience it caused you and are sorry to hear about your experience with your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE having issues using the rear camera in the default camera app.

In addition to our dear Samsung members replies, in case you missed it, did you try checking the permissions of your Camera apps on those mentioned apps? Also, you need to update the apps that need to be compatible with the latest software updates, One UI 5.1, that you've installed recently. You may check Google Play or Galaxy Store for the available updates on your installed apps.

Before you try out the recommendations below, be sure to check if your device's software and related apps ( are updated to the latest version. To update your mobile device's software, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

App permissions can be managed through the Permission manager.

Step 1. Go to the Settings, and then select the Apps menu.

Step 2.  Tap on the more options (three vertical dots) icon.

Step 3. Choose the Permission manager.

Step 4. You can check the list of permissions. Select the feature for which you want to check permissions.

Step 5. If you want to change the access of certain applications, select the one you want to allow or deny, especially when it comes to the camera app.

Step 6. You can choose one of following:

  • Allow all the time: the application accesses this data, even when it is not in use.
  • Allow only while using the app
  • Ask every time
  • Deny

Note: Denying certain permissions may affect the operation of some applications. In this case, a notification may appear.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you may submit an error report through the Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Camera".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.
