Whenever I watch videos on my Samsung phone, it doesn't show up on my YT watch history, even though it works fine on my other devices.

Hello Axoniaz,

Thanks for reaching out to us here in order to find out what's causing your YouTube app watch history not showing up, whenever you watch a video on your beloved Samsung Galaxy phone.

I really understand what you are experiencing, expecting your device to save temporarily any watched movies, videos, or media whenever you desire, but turns out, it doesn't work that way. If I have a similar experience, I will be bothered too.

But don't worry, we are here to guide you and offer solutions to restore your device to optimum performance.

Before you try out the recommendations below, be sure to check if your device's software and related apps are updated to the latest version. To update your mobile device's software, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

If you sign in to your YouTube account through your Samsung Galaxy device, then, you can enable the app through the Permission Manager on your device's settings as follows:

Step 1. Go to the Settings, and then select the Apps menu.

Step 2.  Tap on the more options (three vertical dots) icon.

Step 3. Choose the Permission manager.

Step 4. You can check the list of permissions. Select the feature for which you want to check permissions.

Step 5. If you want to change the access of certain applications, select the one you want to allow or deny.

Step 6. You can choose one of following:

  • Allow all the time: the application accesses this data, even when it is not in use.
  • Allow only while using the app
  • Ask every time
  • Deny

If that doesn't fix the problem, you may submit an error report through Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Application".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.

I'm having the same problem on a Z Fold5 starting ~2 months ago and have moved to an S23 Ultra today and same problem still. History works fine on the PC, but not the phones. Switched Youtube accounts and same problem in the other.

Did you ever get it working?

Not yet. I have an S21 Ultra and an S22. History doesn't work on both phones. I also have an iPhone and an iPad, and it seems to work fine there. I've tried all the solutions Samsung gave, but it didn't work.
