After experiencing sound issues with the phone folded last night, it has now suffered a significant issue regarding the main screen. Turned the phone on this morning as normal, cover screen shows Samsung logo and it appears to boot up fine. However once I unfolded the phone the main screen done nothing, no image just complete black. Closed the phone, pressed power key and the cover screen shows time and date like normal so the phone is switched on. Main screen shows nothing, doesn't respond to touch, completely dead. I cannot access the phone whatsoever as it keeps saying I need to enter the PIN after restart, but I can't do this as the main screen doesn't work.
Forced restart by holding power and volume key, main screen still dead. Can't plug into PC or use mouse/keyboard as the phone asks me to open and unlock it with the PIN to authorize a USB device.
Been told that it is probably the ribbon cable in the hinge that has failed and it's risky to fix due to the likelihood of main screen damage during removal which would then cost more than the phone is worth. This has left me with a really sour taste as I took good care of it, yet the device is now useless. I didn't want to buy another phone as I was happy with the flip4 but have to now. Definitely won't consider any foldable device from now on.
