Tab S8 Ultra users, anyone notice pink tint/color shift on the screen when viewed at certain angle?

I'm curious what can actually be done about this as it seems to be an issue with the displays tech itself. The panels are obviously nowhere near the same quality as the ones used in their phones.

I'm so glad someone posted this. The first thing I noticed about my tab s8 ultra is when I took it out of the box and laid it on my desk for setup, the entire screen shifts to a red tint when not viewed perfectly head on. I thought this was supposed to be an amazing OLED screen and it looks worse than 3+ year old LCD displays I have. I use the tablet for note taking in college which means I'm almost never looking at it head on, so the screen always looks discolored and washed out. My surface 8 pro looks many times better and it's an LCD.

I have the s7+ and no such issue with it. I've visited 2 Samsung store to have a look of the demo unit but I don't see them reproducing such color shift. Anyway had visited Samsung Service Center and they are checking on it.

Sadly I have the same issue. This appears to be a widespread hardware problem, I’m heartbroken. I’ve had lcd screens from 2008 that even with aging don’t look as bad as the screen on this $1,200 tablet. My S7+ looks amazing but I chose to trade it in and now I’m stuck losing an amazing screen for this heap of trash. I’ve never been so disappointed with a company.

I share the same sentiments. This display honestly looks worse than most LCD displays these days. A reddit user responded with the following explanation:

The Tab S8 Ultra uses a rigid OLED display stack, AMSA46AS01, as opposed to the flexible ones used in modern day flagship phones. Worse viewing angles and decreased contrast (black levels are elevated more due to increased reflectivity) are some of the downsides of using a rigid panel over a flexible one.

I noticed non-uniform viewing angles and red shift on the demo units at my local BestBuy. It's a little more subtle due to the bright ambient environment, but this is a property of the OLED panel Samsung used.

I am awaiting mine to even be shipped out (Australia) and this seems a really annoying detail to find out so late. I bloody hate how tech reviewers don't mention this stuff at all, giving us a false sense of confidence with the product.

Which interestingly from the video's I've seen, their unit don't exhibit the same color shift when shot from an angle. Not sure if the ambience lighting plays a huge part.

Just gotten a call from Samsung Singapore Westgate Service Center that the pink color shift is an expected behavior of the panel. Not impressed.

They've refused to provide me with a written response.
