Corner hints on lock screen

Saw this on another forum last night, but if you have those corner hints on the lockscreen they are a reminder that, that is how Google assistant is triggered. If you just unlock the phone and call up the assistant a few times and pull the drawer up a few times (no more than10) they go away and it looks so much cleaner.

Doesn't seem to work for me. Did you guys have to turn on the settings for the full Assistant experience (i.e. allow Google to save your data)?

I went to clear my Google app cache to retry the process and it looks like that did the trick. Also found this resource online.
