When gestures (swipe up for home, left and right to back, etc.) Is active, the keyboard should sit closer to the pill instead of having a large space at the bottom of the keyboard.
Settings - Display - Navigation bar - Show button to hide keyboard. It was already off but I still had the space and arrow. Turned it on and off, haven't had the space or arrow since. But sometimes leave a "." as a draft in messages when backing out now.
This solved the problem for me. Allowed me to remove the keyboard selection and back arrow. Finally the keyboard doesn't take up 50% of the screen again. Thanks!
