WearablesHeart monitoring in smartwatch devices could mean many things:
- EKG feature (the one talked about here)
- PPG (optical heart sensor)
- SpO2 (often comes along with the optical heart sensor)
Manufacturers like Samsung can ship devices with PPG and SpO2 features enabled, but EKG requires gov approval. Same goes with Apple Watch too—still no EKG approval until today.

WearablesFor your information ECG for Apple is already approved by government 6 days before your post here: (KKM) https://soyacincau.com/2021/02/09/apple-watch-malaysia-ecg-feature-approved-medical-device-authority...
And I wonder why haven't samsung got the same status? Money issue? Apple might have paid lot of money to get this approval.

WearablesIt's not really the software, but gov approval (see my other comment). All EKG devices usually require some sort of approval from a gov as they will have to follow guidelines. For example, here are the US FDA guidelines for EKG devices.
I have no idea what the local guidelines are, and AFAIK the AliveCor KardiaMobile is probably the most portable EKG device approved by our gov. The problem is it's not a watch.
