Just got the OneUi 8.5.

Tested airdrop. This is slower than quickshare or other apps.

I have a feeling it's just using Bluetooth transfer instead of wifi direct.

May I ask other people test this and replicate?

How big is the file you are transferring? I only tried sending a 12MB picture earlier it took maybe less than 2 seconds.

321mb mp4. Basically a 21s test video. Took way too long.

I just tried sending a 522MB file, and it took over 5 minutes. 😅 I think it uses Wi-Fi Direct because it disconnected my Wi-Fi while sending.

Maybe there's still some conversion happening in the backend.

But it works fine for normal transfers, considering it's a workaround. Hopefully, Apple won't kill it. 😂

Apple would have if they could have. Even oppo started deploying it. EU hammer is scaring them I reckon.
The video meta data seems close ish. Might have to do a hash check.

I have tried it on S26U to transfer photos, like 5, and it was fast. But even at that time it was reported by users that it was underperforming, or they couldn't transfer files at all.
So, there may be more behind that. Let's see what else will surface through our community.

I tried photos too. Was genuinely quicker.

Airdrop to quickshare (or vice versa) is slower than quickshare-quickshare.

But it is a welcome addition (no thanks to the fruit company). Better than whatsapp (compressed)

Agreed. Would do in a pinch. But would be interesting to know how it all works.

Yes! It definitely would be!
