Since the 13 update of my Samsung Galaxy A 52  my map icon is no longer visible on my cars screen connected through Android Auto. The latest update did not help either

Make sure your maps is not in deep sleep or restricted.

That worked for me when I had something similar a few months back

Android Auto for phones has been discontinued (Google it). Because I don't know how connecting to your car screen works I don't know whether alternatives will work for you. Google "best alternatives for android auto"

Quote "If you’re here, you’ve probably heard the news: Android Auto for phone screens is on its way out, soon to be fully replaced with Assistant Driving Mode (accessed through your Google Maps Settings). This affects users from Android 12 onwards, and leaves a lot of people wanting an Android Auto alternative."

That article was 2021, and Android Auto is still working today in 2023. SmartSelect_20230323_104813_Google Play Store_1000033106_1679528893.jpg

The article referred to not being available from Android 12 and the user has just updated to android 13 and this matches the user's comment. Also I searched Play Store and couldn't find it. Play Store does sometimes show apps based on device although more usually it advises a message something like "this app is not compatible with this device" (my phrasing may not be 100% accurate but that is the nature of the message).

I'm using a galaxy fold3 with latest Android update. Android auto also works on my a33 and S10+ without issues. In fact, they've made android auto much better with the latest update, in that you can have two apps side by side now (eg, music and map). In the past you had to keep switching apps (which can be more distracting).

The official Google page for android auto also never mentioned anything about android auto being replaced or affecting android 12 and onwards. Android auto is built into your phone, there is no need to download anything extra.

The page you quoted is not Google and was made in 2021. It's 2023 and as I mentioned above, android auto is still working and compatible with android 12 and above. Screenshot_20230323_124842_Samsung Internet_1000033117_1679536122.jpg

Let us first recognise that we are getting different results from both Play Store and Google searches. Also to note the difference between Android Auto and Android Auto for phones. Noting that the following is not a Google origin comment🤣 it is another, June 2022, comment that Android Auto for phone is dead:
