Hey there Members 👋
Who uses Night Mode on their phone cameras?
Do you zoom in for a better shot or does it loose pixels too much🤔

I have tried both, Pro mode takes time to get used too (still learning) they have turned out horrible 🤦‍♀️

Pro mode does take some time. I might do a tutorial for this.

But for now, try shooting with RAW file (within camera settings) this way you can edit in apps such as lightroom without losing quality from processing.

Practice makes perfect @Jodsta! I find the main things to adjust in Pro Mode are: ISO, Shutterspeed, and AF

Rules of thumb:

ISO - a higher ISO will create a brighter photo, but can cause "grainier" looking photos.

Shutterspeed - Increasing the shutterspeed instead of ISO will also create brighter photos but with less of that grainy effect. You can set the shutterspeed for up to  10-30 seconds (Depending on which device), that's how long the phone will take to snap the picture. Increased times mean your device must be held very still, as any shaking during that timeframe will blur your photo. If you are using a higher shutterspeed, I suggest propping your phone into a steady position or on a tripod.

AF/MF - Auto Focus or Manual Focus. Either tap to autofocus or adjust a slider to manually focus on a subject.

Night Mode: can automatically take lowlight photos by detecting how dark your surroundings are and adjust the shutterspeed accordingly. You can try with this mode first to get an idea of what your low-light photos should look like.

ISO vs Shutterspeed: Neither is better than the other, it's up to the photographer to adjust both settings to capture the lighting they want in a photo.

Please note I'm not a photographer, just a moderator trying to practice their own night shots :)

Funny enough I use Night Mode a lot - even during day time.

Main reason is because Dynamic Range. The way Night Mode works is it lowers the shutter speed and takes many photos in a short burst of time. Then it averages out the photo using an algorithm / combines the photos to not only reduce digital noise, but also retains highlight and shadow detail.

This is why I use it during the day too - it captures so much information and provides me a lot of flexibility to work with in post 😁
