DiscussionSo I've had my fair share of different smartphones over the years. My first Samsung was the S7 Edge. What always bugged me about Samsung phones is how horrible their optimisation is especially for their cameras. Don't get me wrong, Samsung has come a long way in the software department, but coming from iPhones and even Pixel devices, Samsung is still the smartphone manufacturer in 2023 that falls behind in optimisation. My biggest gripe with my S22 Ultra is how horribly laggy/choppy the camera is. Primarily the zoom lag but also the shutter lag. This problem is seemingly more prevalent during low light scenarios. It was also a problem on my Note 20 Ultra (snapdragon model) but not as bad as my S22.
I've recently updated the software to Oneui 5.1 hoping that it'll at least alleviate some of the lag but it hasn't. If anything i feel like the zoom lag is worse than before. Yes, I've read other forums, and yes I've tried resetting the camera, clearing the cache, etc etc. The only thing i have yet to try is flashing the firmware with odin (last ditch effort if I'm frustrated enough). Something like this should not exist on such an expensive "high-end" smartphone. It's problems like these that ruin the entire experience.
Samsung.. you got rid of the exynos model (thank god). Now please fix your **bleep** camaras..
