Yesterday I decided to test an activated Smarttag2. It found the tag as expected, in my car, but it indicated within a minute that it had moved from my place 40km outside Canberra to an address at North Quay, Brisbane City. I decided that this wasn't the speed of light but might match the speed of lightning.I repeated this process several times with the same result. The tag is still at my address.
I have reported this and am awaiting a reply. Feedback from techos who can suggest the reason would be welcome.
RESOLUTION
I am enormously impressed by the expertise of the support team. Regular readers of my posts would be aware that sometimes I have been highly critical of aspects of service support but at other times been pleased to comment very positively. I never expected the cause of this problem to be found. I thought it was a minor problem that didn't have much impact and I nearly didn't report it.
It turns out that with Developer options open a feature was active, mock location, even though I had never touched this option. I couldn't fully follow the suggested resolution but turning off Developer Options fixed it. As I have only used features of Developer Options extremely rarely, in the future I only need to activate it for specific purposes and then turn it off again.
It is really great to encounter the skill of experts.
