You may try the following to help remove the ghost touches:
- Wipe cache partition
- Dial *#2663# (to update SP FW)
- Toggle "Touch Sensitivity" on and/or off

If you have a newly-placed tempered glass on your screen or if you had a software update recently installed, these could be factors too.

To gauge whether the issue is hardware or software-related:
- if the issues started after a software update, there's a huge possibility that the issue is software-related (hence, future patches may be able to fix it. You can expedite by sending error reports in this app).
- try to enter Safe Mode (and/or a factory reset, if possible). If the ghost touches persist even in Safe Mode (or after a factory reset), the issue may be already at hardware level.

You may also do some screen touch tests/diagnostics to check if a part of your screen is no longer working/responding to touches (especially around the area where the ghost touch happens). If this is the case, then the issue may be caused by hardware malfunctions. One way to find the exact area where the ghost touch occurs (if not yet determined as of now) is to do a screen recording and turning on "Show taps and touches." If a screen recording is not possible, you may try to download a reputable touch test app.

You may also consider visiting an authorized Samsung service center to be sure. If the problem has been found to be at hardware level, then replacing the actual screen is needed.

Hello Monticore,

Thanks for letting us know your experience with your beloved Samsung Galaxy A04 having multiple random issues ranging from ghost touches, glitches and frozen screen. I feel and understand why you are feeling that way, for a device that you've take care so much. If my device is facing similar experiences, I will be annoyed too.

Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software are updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

Check 1. Attachments to the screen may affect the touch sensitivity.

If you attach accessories, such as screen protectors to the touch screen, the touch screen may not work properly. Small stickers, such as protective labels, can also affect touch sensitivity. In particular, some Samsung-unapproved protective glasses or films have only adhesive on the side edges, and if these products are attached to the screen, the protective glass or film may not adhere completely to the screen.

Because of this, some areas of the touch screen may not recognize the touch and may respond intermittently. After removing the attachment, check the touch function again. If the attachment is removed and the touch works properly, your phone has no problem regarding the touch screen.

Check 2. Be careful when touching the screen.

If you are wearing gloves or your hands are not clean while touching the touchscreen, or if you tap the screen with sharp objects or your fingertips, the touchscreen may malfunction.

Check 3. Moisture may affect the touch screen.

The touchscreen may malfunction in humid conditions or when exposed to water.

Check 4. Activate the touch sensitivity feature.

Your Galaxy phone has a feature that increases the touch sensitivity of the screen for use when a screen protector is attached. If you feel that the touch on the screen has become relatively less sensitive after using the screen protector, follow the steps below to enable the Touch Sensitivity feature.

Step 1. Go to the Settings, and then select the Display menu.

Step 2. Find and tap the switch to activate the Touch sensitivity.

Note: If there is no response on the screen, or if the screen is cracked, the device may need repair.

Step 1. Launch the Samsung Members app, and then tap the Support icon for more options.

Step 2. Scroll and select Error reports.

Step 3. Choose a category of your concern. Select "Display".

Step 4. Choose the frequency of the issue you are experiencing. Enter issue details or attach a video or screenshot. Then press Send icons to complete the report.
