Thank you for reaching out to us to inquire about what you have initially determine a malfunction or defective Volume Down and Power Buttons after the latest software updates.
It really uncomfortable and unpleasant experience for you if you are really used to having a working Samsung Galaxy device before, but don't worry, we are here to help.
First, ensure that your device is up-to-date with the latest software updates through
Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Download, if available > Install > Follow on-screen notifications.
And together, we can trace what's behind the issue by following the below basic troubleshooting steps.
1) Check the volume & power buttons physically for any visible dent on it which makes it, to be pressed in or stuck instead of the normal operation. Remove, clean and dry of any debris or foreign particles.
2) Rebooting your phone helps restart all background services and the software of your device. After restarting, check if the volume button works.
3) Clear Cache Partition
Step 1. Turn off your phone.
Step 2. Plug in the USB cable via PC or Type-C earphones (in case its USB-C to USB-C).
Step 3. Then press and hold Power and Volume up buttons.
Step 4. Release the power button. When the recovery screen shows up, release the volume up button.
Step 5. Navigate to and select Wipe cache partition (Volume up and down is for highlighting options and power is to select).
Step 6. Navigate to and select Yes.
Step 7. Press the power button to select Reboot system now.
