This may be a dumb question but should I remove the protective film at the sides of my device?
Is it redundant for me to leave it be or does it add any additional protection for the phone (I use a case for my phone)

Any answer is much appreciated... Thank you.

Yes you may remove the protection film and you should have a device casing for the additional protection of your device.

Hi jeusy! Hello! The protective film is there to keep your phone safe during shipping. For the best experience and avoid future issues, be sure to remove all of it after you get your phone. 😊📱

This is noted! I thought I was doing my phone a favor by leaving the film on to preserve that extra layer of protection at the sides but I guess I was wrong... thank you for this! 😊

If you're using a case, best to remove it. No matter how thin the film is, it's unnecessary traction for the case and might cause future damage or harder removal. Had that issue before.

I'm using a case and whenever I try to put it on, I always try to be cautious in not messing up the film on the sides so having it removed now is kind of like a breath of fresh air! thank you for sharing your experience, btw!
