Galaxy AHi @BAmC111, that's strange. I have a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
1. Clear the app cache: Settings > Apps > Messages > Storage > clear cache.
2. Check if your Mobile Data is enabled. Swipe down from the top to get to your quick settings, and tap Mobile Data if it is not already turned on.
3. Go into Samsung Members > Get Help > Automatic checks.
This check will tell you if there are any internal issues or deviations with your device. If so, the best course of action would be to send it in to your nearest service centre to be assessed. Galaxy ALike the other day I was having trouble being heard on my device so instead of asking myself why I turn and yelled what I was communicating to the recipient as was in same room.
That's the sort of tech work level I operate on
